Contest rules & info

Rib contest

General guidelines and eligibility:

  • 1) Anyone can enter, and newcomers are always welcome
  • 2) All ingredients such as rubs, marinades and sauces must be homemade
  • 3) BBQ-style ribs only
  • 4) Teams can be comprised of 1-4 people
  • 5) All entries should be ready for submission to judges by 6:00pm

Judging is based on:

  • a) Flavor/Taste (20 points)
  • b) Sauce/Balance (15 points)
  • c) Appearance/Presentation (5 points)

Starting time:

Riborama kicks off at noon. Contestants are welcome to arrive earlier than that to set up their equipment, etc. Judging is at 6pm sharp. The dessert contest follows shortly after.

Entry fees & information:

  • 1) Entry fees will be waived this year
  • 2) Contestant discount: T-shirt and beer $15 per person
  • 3) T-shirts $15
  • 4) Keg beer $5

Miscellaneous:

Bring your own grill. We ask that everyone bring a side to share as well. if you don't plan on cooking ribs, there will plenty of grills available after the winner of the rib contest is announced to cook hot dogs, burgers, chicken, etc.

The dessert contest

Eligibility:

1) Can be an individual or team entry
2) Must be a homemade recipe
3) There is no entry fee for the dessert contest, so why not give it a try?

Judging is based on:

a) Flavor/Taste (20 points)
b) Appearance/Presentation (10 points)

Dessert judging is held after the rib contest. Any and all bribes will be carefully considered.
